Will custom IEMs help protect my ears as a drummer?

Yes. Cosmic Ears custom in-ear monitors offer around -26dB of isolation, and our IEM sound technology allows you to keep your wireless pack at a sensible listening level while still hearing the detail, clarity, and power of your drums. Just don’t be tempted to turn up your pack (and listen loudly!), as you’ll be defeating the purpose of protecting your ears.

I like to feel the kick drum; what is the best model for me?

The models in our range that offer the most bass response are the C3A, C6A, and C8A. For drummers playing larger venues, we always recommend the higher driver count models (C6A/C8A). However, if you really want to ‘feel’ the kick drum, you should consider using a ‘Butt-Kicker,’ like a Porter & Davies, which many of our customers use to help them ‘feel’ the kick drum through their drum stool.

I sweat a lot as a drummer; how can I look after my Cosmic Ears custom in-ears?

Most custom IEM issues we see are caused by wax, dirt, and sweat. Regardless of how much you sweat, we strongly recommend that you clean your Cosmic Ears after every use with the cleaning tool and cloth provided. Be sure to dry and clean the cable socket terminals and store your IEMs in your case with the silica pouches. For customers who sweat excessively, we have found that the best remedy to dry your custom IEMs is to invest in a dehumidifier, or submerge both sides in dry, uncooked rice grains for a minimum of 24 hours.
